Attendance Allowance is a benefit designed to help people who have reached State Pension age and need additional help or supervision because of a disability or health condition.
For 2026/27, Attendance Allowance is paid at two rates:
- Lower rate: £76.70 per week
- Higher rate: £114.60 per week
The rate you receive depends on the level of help or supervision you need, rather than your particular diagnosis. You also do not need to have a professional carer in order to qualify.
You may be eligible if a physical or mental health condition means you need help looking after yourself or supervision to keep yourself or someone else safe. Generally, you must have needed this support for at least six months.
